History:
The residency in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry has been in existence here at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center (SLRHC) since the late 1950's. It is ACGME-accredited, and at their most recent site visit in August 2003, the program received a status of continued full accreditation for a full five years. The Fellowship in Administrative Child & Adolescent Psychiatry is a relatively recent addition, with the first fellow having been recruited July 2003. That first fellow graduated from the fellowship June 30, 2004.
Duration
The program is for one year, from July 1 until June 30.
Prerequisite Training/Selection Criteria:
All applicants are required to have completed ACGME-accredited residencies in both General and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. The process is generally very competitive due to the scarcity of such training programs.
Goals and Objectives for Training:
The educational purpose of the training program is to provide advanced training in Administrative (Child & Adolescent) Psychiatry. The training is designed either for those pursuing a career in academic medicine or for those who will have clinical leadership roles.
Program Certifications:
The clinical programs here are licensed by New York State's Office of Mental health (OMH) and Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS). Our traditional child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship is ACGME-accredited
