Pediatric Weight Management Program

The Pediatric Weight Management Program offers a comprehensive, multidisciplinary program for children and families whose lives have been affected by eating disorders, primarily Binge Eating Disorder and obesity. Formed in September of 2003, it is truly the first comprehensive adolescent obesity treatment program in the New York City area. The Program is run jointly by the Department of Pediatrics, the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology, the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and the Division of Bariatric Surgery, along with significant input from a clinical nutritionist. Interventions range from dietary and lifestyle changes, up to and including gastric bypass surgery.

The Pediatric Weight Management Clinic provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment for Child and Adolescent Obesity. Treatment involves behavior modification, dietary medication, promoting of physical activity, family counseling, evaluation for Hyperlipidemia, Diabetes, hyperinsulinemia and various other medical sequala contributing to obesity. This biopsychosocial approach is possible, because all of our participants undergo a complete Psychiatric, Endocrinological and Nutrition evaluation.
