School-Based Health Centers (SBHC)
The Child and Family Institute at St. Luke’s and Roosevelt Hospitals (CFI) collaborates with the New York City (NYC)
Department of Education (DOE), the New York State (NYS) Department of Health (DOH) and the Departments of Pediatrics
and Urban Family Practice of SLRHC to provide school-based mental health services in western Manhattan.
Two of our school-based health clinics (SBHCs) have been functioning since 1988 and the third since 1990.
Currently these clinics are located in three high schools on the Upper West Side of Manhattan and Harlem:
- Louis D. Brandeis High School (BHS)
- Phillip Randolph Campus High School (APR)
- Martin Luther King, Jr. High School (MLK)
Mental Health Services at the SBHCs operates as a satellite clinic of our Child & Adolescent Psychiatry
Outpatient Clinic at SLRHC. A full continuum of services are provided, including urgent evaluations; individual,
group, and family therapies; focused diagnostic assessment; crisis intervention; psychopharmacologic management;
and prevention activities. If necessary, a referral is made to our Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Outpatient
Clinic at SLRHC for longer-term treatment or for more intensive psychiatric and psychological services.
Additional services include consultation to educational staff, as well as in-service trainings.
